Getting There

Walking
From the center of Punakha, head north on the main road towards Wangdue Phodrang. Walk for about 15-20 minutes until you reach the Punakha Dzong. Continue past the Dzong, following the signs towards Phobjikha Valley. After approximately 30 minutes of walking, you will reach the trailhead leading to Phobjikha. Follow this path through the scenic landscape, which will take about 1-2 hours depending on your pace.

Rent a bicycle in Punakha and head towards the main road to Wangdue Phodrang. Cycle north for about 5 kilometers until you reach the Punakha Dzong. After exploring the Dzong, continue on the road that leads towards Phobjikha Valley. The cycling path is mostly flat and scenic. Expect to spend about 1-1.5 hours cycling to reach the Phobjikha Valley area.
