Car
To reach Phobjikha Valley from Samdrup Jongkhar by car, start by heading west on the main road towards Trashigang. After approximately 70 km, you will reach the junction near Trashigang. Take a left turn towards Wangdue Phodrang and continue for about 90 km. As you approach Wangdue Phodrang, follow the signs toward Phobjikha Valley, which is about 20 km from the main road. The total travel time is roughly 3-4 hours depending on road conditions. Note that you may incur fuel costs and potential tolls along the way.
Public Transportation
From Samdrup Jongkhar, take a bus or shared taxi to Trashigang. Buses leave regularly throughout the day, and the fare is approximately 200-300 BTN. The journey takes about 2 hours. Upon arrival in Trashigang, transfer to another bus or shared taxi heading to Wangdue Phodrang. This leg of the trip may cost another 300-400 BTN and takes about 2-3 hours. Finally, from Wangdue Phodrang, you can hire a taxi or take a local bus to Phobjikha Valley, which is around 20 km away, costing about 500 BTN for the taxi, or around 100 BTN for the bus if available.
