Car
To reach Punakha Dzong from Samdrup Jongkhar by car, start on the main road (East-West Highway) heading west. The journey takes approximately 5-6 hours, covering a distance of around 200 km. You'll pass through beautiful landscapes, including the towns of Trashigang and Wangdue Phodrang. Follow the signs for Punakha once you reach Wangdue Phodrang, and continue on the road until you see the Dzong ahead. Ensure your vehicle is in good condition, as some stretches may be winding and steep.
Public Transportation
To travel by public transportation, take a shared taxi or bus from Samdrup Jongkhar to Thimphu. From Thimphu, you will need to catch another bus or taxi to Punakha.
