Getting There

  • Car

    If you're driving from Paro town, head east on the Paro-Thimphu highway (Route 110). Continue straight for about 12 km, enjoying the scenic views of the valley. Once you reach the junction, take a left turn onto the road leading to Drugyel Dzong. Follow the signs for approximately 2 km, and you will see Drugyel Dzong on your right-hand side. There is a parking area available near the entrance.

    To reach Drugyel Dzong via public transport, you can take a local bus or shared taxi from Paro town. Buses to Drugyel Dzong depart from the main bus station in Paro. Look for the bus heading towards Drugyel Dzong, which runs approximately every hour. The journey will take about 30 minutes. Once you arrive at the Drugyel Dzong stop, it is a short walk to the entrance of the Dzong, which will be clearly visible.

    If you are close enough and want to enjoy a walk, you can start from the center of Paro town. Walk along the main road heading east towards the Paro-Thimphu highway. After about 1 km, you will reach the highway; cross carefully and continue on the road leading to Drugyel Dzong. It's approximately a 5 km walk from the town center, taking around 1 hour. Make sure to follow the signs that lead you towards Drugyel Dzong for the best route.
