Getting There

Foot
Start from the center of Thimphu at Clock Tower Square. Head east on Norzin Lam and continue straight for about 1.5 kilometers until you reach the junction with the road leading to Paro. Look for the sign indicating the direction to Paro. Continue along this road, which will take you through beautiful landscapes. After about 30 minutes, you will reach the bus station in Thimphu. From there, take a local bus or shared taxi heading to Paro. The journey takes approximately 1 hour. Once in Paro, ask the driver to drop you off at the base of the Taktsang trail, which is well-marked. The trailhead is about 10 kilometers from the Paro town center. Hike up the trail, which usually takes around 2 to 3 hours to reach the Tiger's Nest Monastery.

From the center of Thimphu, head to the Thimphu Bus Station, located near the main market area. Look for a bus heading to Paro, which is a common route. Buses usually depart every 30 minutes during the day. The bus ride takes about 1 hour. Once you arrive in Paro, disembark at the Paro bus station. From there, you can either walk or take a short taxi ride to the base of the Taktsang trail. The trailhead is about 10 kilometers from the bus station, so a taxi will make this part easier. When you reach the trailhead, begin your hike to the Tiger's Nest, which takes approximately 2 to 3 hours.

Make your way to the main taxi stand in Thimphu, which is located near the Clock Tower Square. You can find shared taxis going to Paro. Share the ride with other passengers to help reduce costs. The journey to Paro typically takes about 1 hour. Once you arrive in Paro, ask your driver to take you to the Taktsang trailhead. The trailhead is roughly 10 kilometers from the town center in Paro. After reaching the trailhead, begin your hike to the Tiger's Nest Monastery, which generally takes about 2 to 3 hours to reach.
