Car
From Trashigang, head east on the main highway (National Highway 2) towards Merak. The journey will take approximately 2-3 hours, depending on road conditions. As you approach Merak, look for the sign indicating 'Merak' and merge onto the road leading into the village. After entering Merak, continue until you reach a fork in the road and take the left path towards Nyakchung La. The coordinates for Nyakchung La are roughly 27.3306° N, 91.8963° E. The last stretch may involve rough terrain, so a 4WD vehicle is recommended. Note that parking may be limited at the trailhead.
Public Transportation
From Trashigang, take a local bus or shared taxi heading towards Merak. Buses usually leave from the main bus station in Trashigang. The ride will take about 2-3 hours. Once you arrive in Merak, you can either walk or hire a local taxi to take you closer to Nyakchung La. Make sure to negotiate the fare before starting your journey, as prices can vary. The local taxi can take you as far as possible on the rough road towards the hiking area, but you may have to walk the final distance to reach Nyakchung La.
