    Getting There

    Car

    If you are driving from Tsirang, head east on the main road that connects to the Thimphu highway. After approximately 30 minutes, you'll reach the junction at Chuzom. Continue straight towards Thimphu. After about 12 kilometers, look for signs directing you to Semtokha. Turn left at the Semtokha sign and follow the road for 5 kilometers until you reach Simtokha Dzong. Be aware that parking is available near the Dzong.

    Public Transportation

    Start by taking a local bus from Tsirang to Thimphu. Buses run frequently throughout the day, and the fare is usually around 100 Nu. The journey takes approximately 1.5 hours. Once you arrive in Thimphu, transfer to a bus heading towards Semtokha. The fare for this leg is about 30 Nu and takes around 15 minutes. Once you arrive at the Semtokha stop, it’s a short 10-minute walk uphill to reach Simtokha Dzong.

    For a more convenient option, you can hire a taxi from Tsirang directly to Simtokha Dzong. The fare is typically around 1,500 Nu. The journey takes about 45 minutes. Make sure to negotiate the fare beforehand and confirm that the driver knows the location of Simtokha Dzong.
