Getting there

Walking

Start at Wangdue Phodrang Dzong, a well-known landmark. From the Dzong, walk towards the main road (Punakha Highway) heading south. Continue walking for about 1.5 kilometers until you reach the intersection with the Punakha Highway. At this intersection, look for signs directing you to Dochula Pass. Turn left onto the Punakha Highway and continue walking for approximately 10 kilometers. You will pass through a scenic area with views of the mountains. As you approach Dochula, keep an eye out for a small sign that indicates the Meditation Caves (FQQ2+C5P). The caves are located slightly off the main road. Look for a path leading uphill to your right, which will take you to the Meditation Caves.

Hiking

If you are feeling adventurous and prefer a more scenic route, consider hiking from Wangdue Phodrang to Dochula. Begin your hike from the Wangdue Phodrang Dzong and follow the trail that leads into the hills. This trail is about 12 kilometers long and offers beautiful views of the surrounding valleys. After reaching Dochula, look for the path that leads to the Meditation Caves off the Punakha Highway. The hike will take approximately 4-5 hours, depending on your pace.
