From Wangdue Phodrang town center, head towards the Wangdue Phodrang Dzong. Once you reach the Dzong, look for the path that leads down to the river. Follow the path downhill until you reach the riverbank. You should see signs pointing towards the Punakha Suspension Bridge. Cross the river via the path and proceed along the riverbank until you see the bridge. It is approximately a 30-40 minute walk from the town center, following the scenic riverside trail.
Bicycle
Rent a bicycle from one of the local shops in Wangdue Phodrang. Start your journey by cycling towards the Wangdue Phodrang Dzong. From the Dzong, take the road leading downhill towards the river. Continue cycling along the riverside path, keeping an eye out for signs pointing to the Punakha Suspension Bridge. The journey is about 20-30 minutes by bicycle, depending on your pace.

If you are feeling adventurous, take a hiking trail that starts near the Wangdue Phodrang Dzong. Look for the trail signs that lead to Punakha. The hike will take you through beautiful landscapes and rural areas. It is a longer route, approximately 1-1.5 hours, but offers stunning views of the valley and the river. Follow the signs carefully, and you will arrive at the Punakha Suspension Bridge.
