Walking
From the center of Wangdue Phodrang, head south towards the Wangdue Phodrang Dzong. As you approach the Dzong, look for the path that leads to the Punakha-Wangdue highway. Follow this highway heading towards Punakha. After approximately 3 kilometers, you will reach a fork in the road. Take the left fork towards Talo Goenpa. Continue on this road for about 1.5 kilometers until you see signs for Talo Goenpa. The monastery will be located on your right, perched on a hill. Be prepared for a short uphill walk to reach the entrance.
Bicycle
Rent a bicycle from one of the local shops in Wangdue Phodrang. Start from the main square and cycle south towards the Wangdue Phodrang Dzong. Once you reach the Dzong, continue towards the Punakha-Wangdue highway. Follow the highway for about 3 kilometers. At the fork in the road, take the left fork towards Talo Goenpa. Continue cycling for another 1.5 kilometers until you find signage for the monastery. You may need to park your bicycle at the bottom of the hill and walk the remaining distance uphill to the monastery entrance.
Hiking
For those interested in hiking, start your journey from the Wangdue Phodrang Dzong. Begin your hike by following the trails that lead south towards the Punakha-Wangdue highway. After about 3 kilometers, you will reach a fork. Take the left fork that leads towards Talo. The trail will be more rural and scenic. Continue on this path for approximately 1.5 kilometers, where you will find the signs indicating Talo Goenpa. Be prepared for a steep ascent as you approach the monastery situated on the hillside.
