Getting There

Walking
From the center of Wangdue Phodrang, head north towards the Wangdue Phodrang Dzong. Once you reach the Dzong, take the path that leads up the hill on the northwest side. Continue walking along this path for about 1.5 kilometers, enjoying the scenic views of the valley. You'll eventually reach a fork in the path; take the left fork, which leads to the Wolakha Nunnery. The nunnery is situated on a hilltop, and you will see its beautiful structures as you approach. The walking distance from the Dzong to the nunnery is approximately 2 kilometers, and it should take about 30-40 minutes to reach on foot.

If you prefer cycling, rent a bicycle in Wangdue Phodrang town. Start by heading north towards Wangdue Phodrang Dzong. Once you reach the Dzong, follow the same path as the walking route. The path is suitable for bicycles, but be cautious of steep areas. After about 1.5 kilometers, you will come to the fork in the path. Take the left fork and continue cycling until you reach the Wolakha Nunnery. The cycling distance is approximately 2 kilometers from the Dzong, and it should take about 10-15 minutes to reach, depending on your speed.
