Getting There

  • Walking

    Start from the Wangdue Phodrang Dzong, which is centrally located in Wangdue Phodrang. Head east on the main road leading out of town. Keep walking for about 10 minutes until you reach the intersection with the road leading to Trongsa. Turn left onto this road and continue walking for approximately 2 kilometers. You will pass through some scenic rural areas and might encounter local farms. Once you reach the Trongsa area, follow the signs directing you to Yungdrung Choling Palace, which should be visible as you approach. It's approximately a 30 to 40-minute walk from the Dzong, so make sure to wear comfortable walking shoes and stay hydrated.

    If you prefer to cycle, rent a bicycle in Wangdue Phodrang and start at the Wangdue Phodrang Dzong. Follow the same route as you would when walking: head east on the main road out of town, turn left onto the road leading to Trongsa after about 10 minutes.
