    Car

    If you are traveling by car, start from Thimphu, the capital of Bhutan. Drive east on the Puna Tsang Chhu Highway (NH 8) towards Wangdue Phodrang. After about 60 km, you will reach Wangdue Phodrang. Continue on the same highway for another 130 km until you reach the junction at Trongsa. From Trongsa, take the road towards Bumthang. After approximately 68 km, you will reach Bumthang. From Bumthang, proceed east on the highway towards Jakar for about 20 km until you find the road leading to Basra River Bed. Follow the signs, and after a short drive through the scenic landscape, you will arrive at the Basra River Bed.

    Public Transportation

    To reach the Basra River Bed via public transportation, take a bus from Thimphu to Bumthang. Buses operate regularly from the Thimphu bus terminal and the journey takes approximately 12-14 hours. Once you reach Bumthang, you can either take a shared taxi or a local bus heading towards Jakar. The taxi ride will take around 30 minutes. Inform the driver that you wish to visit the Basra River Bed, and they will drop you off at the nearest access point. Make sure to check the bus schedules in advance as the frequency may vary.
