Car
If you are traveling by car from Thimphu, take the NH 5 towards Phuentsholing. Once you reach Phuentsholing, continue on the same highway towards the Indian border. After crossing the border, continue to follow the signs to Buxa Hill Forest. The Jayanti Riverbed is located in the Buxa Hill Forest area, which is approximately 30 kilometers from the border. The drive will take about 1.5 to 2 hours depending on traffic. Make sure to have your passport ready for border crossing, as there may be a small fee for entry.
Public Transportation
To reach Jayanti Riverbed using public transportation from Thimphu, first take a bus to Phuentsholing. Buses depart regularly and the journey takes about 6-8 hours. Once in Phuentsholing, you can take a shared taxi or local bus to reach the Indian border at Jaigaon. After crossing the border, you can take a local bus or taxi from Jaigaon to Buxa Hill Forest. The total journey from Thimphu to Jayanti Riverbed via public transport may take around 10-12 hours, so plan accordingly. Be prepared for border crossing fees and additional costs for local transportation.
