• Car

  If you are traveling by car, start your journey from Thimphu, the capital city of Bhutan. Head east on the Thimphu-Phuentsholing Highway (NH 2). After about 54 km, take the right turn towards Paro. Continue on the road for another 30 km until you reach Paro. Follow the signs for Paro International Airport, which is located on Airport Road. The airport is approximately 6 km from the center of Paro. Make sure to have a map or GPS device handy, as road signs may not always be in English.

  To reach Paro International Airport via public transport, board a bus from Thimphu to Paro, which departs regularly from the Thimphu bus terminal. Taxi fares from Thimphu to Paro International Airport can range from 1500 to 2500 Ngultrum depending on the negotiation and time of day. Ensure that the taxi driver is familiar with the route to the airport, as it is a popular destination. It is advisable to agree on the fare before starting the journey.

• Private Vehicle Hire

  For those who wish to explore at their own pace, consider hiring a private vehicle with a driver. This service can be arranged through hotels or travel agencies in Thimphu or Paro. Rates vary, but expect to pay around 3000 to 6000 Ngultrum per day, depending on the type of vehicle. This option allows you to stop along the way to enjoy the scenic views and take photographs, making your journey to Paro International Airport more enjoyable.
