Car
If you are driving from Zhemgang to Taa-Dzong, head north on the Zhemgang-Trongsa Highway (NH 2). The journey is approximately 50 kilometers and takes around 1.5 to 2 hours, depending on road conditions. Follow the signs toward Trongsa. As you approach Trongsa, look for the Bumthang - Ura Hwy (FGX5+P2H) fork. Taa-Dzong is located along this route. Keep an eye out for the Taa-Dzong sign to guide you to the entrance.
Public Transportation
To reach Taa-Dzong by public transportation, take a local bus or shared taxi from Zhemgang to Trongsa. Buses depart regularly from the Zhemgang bus stand. The ticket price is usually around 150-200 Ngultrum. The journey to Trongsa takes approximately 2-3 hours. Once in Trongsa, you can hire a taxi to reach Taa-Dzong, which is about 15 minutes away. Taxi fares from Trongsa to Taa-Dzong range from 200-300 Ngultrum.
Combination of Public Transport and Walking
After arriving in Trongsa via bus, you can opt to walk to Taa-Dzong if you prefer a more immersive experience. From the Trongsa town center, head toward the Bumthang - Ura Highway (FGX5+P2H). The walk is about 3 kilometers and will take approximately 30-40 minutes. Be sure to check local maps or ask locals for directions to Taa-Dzong as you walk.
