Walking
From the center of Bumthang, head north on the main street towards Jakar Dzong. After about 10-15 minutes of walking, you will reach the intersection near the local market. Turn left and continue on this road which leads towards Trongsa. Follow the path for approximately 30 minutes until you reach a viewpoint overlooking the Trongsa Dzong. Continue down the path to the base of the dzong, which is located in the heart of Trongsa.
Bicycle
Rent a bicycle from one of the shops in Bumthang. Start from the central square and cycle north towards the Jakar Dzong. After about 15 minutes, you will arrive at the intersection near the local market. Turn left and follow the road leading to Trongsa. The total cycling distance is around 22 kilometers, which should take approximately 1.5 to 2 hours depending on your speed. Be cautious of the terrain as it can be hilly in places.
Local Bus
From Bumthang, head to the local bus station located near the central market. Look for a bus that is heading to Trongsa. Buses typically leave every couple of hours, so check the schedule for the next departure. The bus ride will take about 1 hour. Once you arrive in Trongsa, the dzong is a short walk from the bus station, just follow the main road towards the dzong.
