From San Juan, continue on the road towards the Kalina Lake area, which is situated approximately 30 km to the southeast. Keep an eye on your GPS or maps, as the roads may not be well-marked. Ensure your vehicle is equipped for rough terrain as the road can be unpaved and bumpy in this region.
Public Transportation
To reach Kalina Lake using public transportation, first, take a bus from Potosí to Uyuni. Buses depart frequently from the main terminal, and the journey takes around 6-7 hours. From Uyuni, you can catch a minibus or shared taxi heading towards San Juan. The ride will take approximately 1-2 hours. Once you arrive in San Juan, arrange for a local taxi or a tour operator to take you to Kalina Lake, which is about 30 km away. It’s advisable to negotiate the fare beforehand. Be prepared for costs: the bus from Potosí to Uyuni may cost around 30-40 BOB, and the minibus from Uyuni to San Juan could range from 20-30 BOB. Local transportation to Kalina Lake may vary in price, so ensure to confirm with the driver.
