Car

If you're traveling by car, start from the nearest major town in the Andean Valleys, such as Potosí or Sucre. From Potosí, head northwest on Route 5 towards La Paz. After approximately 160 kilometers, take the exit toward Route 6. Continue on Route 6 for about 100 kilometers until you reach the town of Puripica. The Salvador Dalí Desert is located just outside of Puripica. You may need a 4WD vehicle for the last stretch as the roads can be rough. Be sure to bring plenty of water and snacks for the journey.

Public Transportation

For those relying on public transportation, take a bus from Potosí to the nearby town of Uyuni. Buses run regularly throughout the day and the journey takes about 6-7 hours. Once in Uyuni, you can catch a local minivan or shared taxi to Puripica. This final leg of the journey may cost around 30-50 BOB (Bolivianos). Be sure to confirm the drop-off point with the driver, as the Salvador Dalí Desert is a popular destination but may not be directly listed on their routes.

Walking

If you find yourself in Puripica and prefer to walk, the Salvador Dalí Desert is about 7 kilometers from the town center. Follow the main road heading southeast, and be prepared for a scenic walk through the stunning Andean landscape. Make sure to wear appropriate footwear and carry enough water, as the terrain can be rugged and the sun intense.
