Car
If you are traveling by car, start on Yungas Road and head towards the town of Coroico. Follow the road signs for Coroico, which will lead you through the scenic and winding paths of the Yungas region. Once you reach Coroico, continue driving approximately 7 kilometers north on the main road. Look for a sign indicating the turnoff for Cascada La Escondida. The entrance to the trailhead is usually marked, but be cautious as some signs may be less visible. Park your car in the designated area and prepare for a short hike to the waterfall.
Public Transportation
If you prefer public transportation, you can take a bus from La Paz to Coroico. Buses leave regularly from the main bus terminal in La Paz, and the journey takes around 3-4 hours. Once in Coroico, you can either take a taxi (approximately 40-50 BOB) or walk to the signposted turnoff for Cascada La Escondida, which is about 7 kilometers away. If you choose to walk, be prepared for a scenic trek along the roadside until you reach the trailhead for the waterfall.
Hiking
Once you arrive at the trailhead for Cascada La Escondida, prepare for a short hike of about 1 kilometer on a well-marked path. The trail is moderately easy and takes around 20-30 minutes to reach the waterfall. Make sure to wear comfortable hiking shoes, and carry enough water and snacks for the hike. Keep an eye out for the local flora and fauna along the way.
