Kubu Lodge, established in 1986, is a privately owned and managed safari lodge located on the banks of the Chobe River, near the town of Kazungula in Botswana. Known as the longest owner-managed establishment in the Chobe area, Kubu Lodge offers a unique blend of tranquility and wilderness, providing guests with an immersive experience in the heart of Africa. The lodge features 11 thatched wooden chalets, each elevated on stilts to provide panoramic views of the Chobe River. The chalets are set amidst 30 hectares of riverine forest, creating a sanctuary for wildlife such as the Chobe bushbuck, warthogs, mongoose, and a variety of bird species. These activities provide opportunities to observe elephants, hippos, and other wildlife in their natural habitat. The lodge also offers shorter boat trips to the confluence of the Chobe and Zambezi Rivers, where four countries (Botswana, Namibia, Zambia, and Zimbabwe) meet. For those seeking relaxation, the lodge features a swimming pool, a summerhouse/reading lounge, and a beauty salon. The lodge is committed to community upliftment and has been home to the Kazungula Children's Ark, a non-profit organization providing education and care for local children. Kubu Lodge is also conveniently located near Kasane International Airport and is within easy reach of Victoria Falls, making it an ideal base for exploring the wider region.
