Self-Drive
The most common starting point to Moremi Game Reserve is from Maun. From Maun, take the road northeast towards Shorobe, about 30km away. The road is tarred until Shorobe, then turns to gravel. Continue to the veterinary control fence (Buffalo Fence). After the fence, the road becomes sandy, requiring a 4x4 vehicle. Continue approximately 99km to Magwe/South Gate, the southern entrance to Moremi Game Reserve. Entrance fees to Moremi Game Reserve for international non-residents are BWP 270 per adult per day and BWP 115 per vehicle per day. It is useful to have some Botswana Pula (BWP) for payment. Ensure you have sufficient fuel, spare tires, and recovery equipment.
Charter Flight
The quickest and most convenient way to reach Moremi is by charter flight from Maun International Airport (MUB) to one of the airstrips within or near the reserve, such as Xakanaxa or Khwai. Several safari and charter companies operate these flights, offering aerial views of the Okavango Delta. A seat on a Mack Air shuttle flight from Maun to your lodge in Moremi costs between US$210 and US$240 per person per way. The flight takes approximately 30-45 minutes. Upon arrival at the airstrip, your chosen lodge will provide a transfer to your final destination.
