Chobe National Park: Botswana's Wildlife Jewel

Chobe National Park, established in 1967, is Botswana's first national park and one of its most biologically diverse. Located in the north of the country, Chobe is most famous for its large population of elephants, estimated to be around 120,000. The park covers approximately 11,000 square kilometers (4,247 square miles) and encompasses a variety of landscapes, from the lush Chobe Riverfront to the arid Savuti Marsh.The Chobe Riverfront, easily accessible from Kasane, is known for its concentrations of wildlife, especially during the dry season (May to October) when animals gather along the river to drink. Boat safaris on the Chobe River offer unique perspectives of elephants, hippos, crocodiles, and diverse birdlife.In the southern part of the park, the Savuti Marsh presents a different landscape, characterized by open grasslands and savanna.
