Getting There

Road

The most common entry point to Mashatu Game Reserve by road is through the Pont Drift Border Post between South Africa and Botswana. From Johannesburg, it's approximately a 6.5-hour drive to the border. Ensure you arrive during the border operating hours (8:00 am to 4:00 pm). After crossing the Limpopo River via vehicle or cable car (depending on the water level), a Mashatu guide will meet you and drive you to the lodge. Cable car transfers are included in the cost of your stay. Note that the road leading to the reserve may be unpaved, so ensure your vehicle is suitable for off-road conditions.
Air

The most convenient way to reach Mashatu Lodge is via a direct flight to Limpopo Valley Airfield (LVA), located within the Mashatu Game Reserve. Mashatu Connect offers flights from Lanseria Airport in Johannesburg, South Africa. Upon arrival at LVA, a Mashatu guide will transfer you to the lodge. This transfer is included in the cost of your stay.

Mashatu Lodge, situated in Botswana's remote eastern corner within the Northern Tuli Game Reserve, provides a luxurious sanctuary amidst the vast African plains. Known as the "Land of Giants," Mashatu is home to the largest elephant herds on privately-owned land, as well as diverse wildlife including lions, leopards, cheetahs, and over 366 bird species. The lodge features 14 spacious luxury suites, each designed for privacy and comfort, with en-suite bathrooms and private bush-facing verandas. Inter-leading family suites are available, making it ideal for families with children of all ages. The main lodge offers a day lounge, dining area, outdoor boma, a waterhole-facing bar, a large swimming pool, and a Discovery Room that showcases Mashatu's cultural history, research, and wildlife. Guests can explore the reserve through guided game drives, walking safaris, horseback safaris, and cycling safaris. Specialist wildlife photographic tuition is also available, along with unique wildlife photographic experiences at underground hides. Mashatu's commitment to conservation is evident in its unfenced borders, allowing animals to roam freely and maintain a diverse ecosystem.
