    For those nearby and preferring a physical challenge, a 10 km hike from the center of Ubajara to Gruta de Ubajara is possible, taking around 2 to 2.5 hours. Follow the CE-187 road, ensuring you have proper footwear and sufficient water. Be aware that the path can be challenging.

    Public Transport

    To reach Ubajara by public transport, take a bus from Crateús to Ubajara. Buses run regularly, and the journey takes about 1 hour. Upon arrival in Ubajara, hire a taxi or 'mototaxi' to cover the remaining 10 km to Gruta de Ubajara. The taxi fare should be around R$20-R$30, subject to negotiation. Note: Bus travel from Fortaleza to Ubajara is approximately 6 hours. From the Ubajara bus terminal, taxis are available.

The cave, known since the early 1700s, was initially explored by Portuguese colonists searching for minerals. The Ubajara Grotto features a sequence of nine halls, with a total length of 1,120 meters, of which 420 meters are open to visitors via lit trails. Inside, you'll discover a mesmerizing display of speleothems, including stalactites and stalagmites, shaped over centuries by the dissolution of limestone rock. Notable formations include the Pedra do Sino (Bell Stone), which resonates with the sound of dripping water, the Salas da Rosa (Rose Rooms), Sala do Cavalo (Horse Room), and Sala dos Retratos (Portrait Room). To reach the cave, visitors can choose between a thrilling cable car ride descending 550 meters, offering panoramic views of the Serra da Ibiapaba, or a 4 km hiking trail through the park's diverse landscape. The Ubajara Araticum trail is a challenging 7km hike that takes about 3 hours and requires a park guide. The Samambaia trail leads to the Cafundó Waterfall and the Gameleira Viewpoint. Ubajara National Park, though the smallest in Brazil, boasts diverse ecosystems, including cloud forests and waterfalls.
