Cachoeira da Jiboia is a breathtaking natural attraction nestled in the tranquil landscapes of Minas Gerais, Brazil. Known as the largest waterfall in the northwest of Minas Gerais, it impresses with its imposing 144 meters of height, ending in a well of approximately 30 meters in diameter. This idyllic spot offers visitors a serene escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
The waterfall is on the border of the municipalities of Unaí and Uruana de Minas. The surrounding lush greenery creates a picturesque backdrop, making it a perfect destination for nature lovers and photographers. Visitors can explore trails offering unique perspectives, relax with picnics, and swim in natural pools. The waterfall's raw power is best showcased during the rainy season. Note that swimming in the main pool is prohibited due to the force of the water. However, there is a smaller waterfall on site with a swimming hole.
The falls are located 20 km from the city center, including 6 km on a dirt road. The trail to access it is considered easy, with only 1.5 km (round trip).

Car
If driving from Unaí, head northeast on Av. Brasil towards Rua Vinte e Três. Continue straight for approximately 12 km on BR-251. Look for signs leading to Garapuava. Upon reaching Garapuava, follow local signs to Cachoeira da Jiboia. The waterfall is located about 5 km from the village center along a dirt road. Ensure your vehicle is suitable for unpaved roads. There may be a small entrance fee to access the falls.
Public Transport
Take a bus from the main bus terminal in Unaí to Garapuava. Buses depart frequently, and the trip takes about 30-45 minutes and costs around R$10. From Garapuava, hire a local taxi or 'moto-taxi' to complete the last 5 km to Cachoeira da Jiboia, as public transport does not reach the site directly. Expect to pay around R$20-R$30 for the taxi.
