Getting There

    From Alto Paraíso de Goiás, take GO-518 towards Teresina de Goiás. After approximately 20.8 km from the Ipiranga gas station in Alto Paraíso, look for a small gate or opening on the left side of the road. This marks the entrance to the area. Follow the dirt road until you reach an abandoned house, which serves as a landmark and a parking spot. From there, the hike to the summit begins. A vehicle entrance fee of approximately R$ 30 may apply.

    The hike from the abandoned house to the summit is roughly 2 km with an elevation gain of about 150 meters. The initial part of the trail crosses fields with flowers. The final ascent involves some bushwhacking and rock scrambling. There may not be a clear path, so using a GPS or a local guide is recommended. The hike takes about 2-3 hours.

Reaching an altitude of approximately 1,676 meters (5,499 feet), it's located a mere 5 km from Alto Paraíso de Goiás and about 2 km from the GO-518 highway. Despite its impressive height, the ascent from base to summit is relatively short, making it accessible to hikers of varying skill levels. The surrounding landscape is characterized by the unique flora of the Cerrado biome, the Brazilian savanna. Expect to see fields of 'sempre-vivas' (everlasting flowers) and other high-altitude vegetation. The panoramic views from the summit are breathtaking, encompassing valleys and the nearby Chapada dos Veadeiros National Park. While the hike to the top is not technically difficult, it does involve some 'vara mato' (bushwhacking) through rocks and shrubs. There isn't a clearly defined trail in some sections, adding a touch of adventure to the experience.
