Mirante Morro das Pedras is a captivating vista point located in the southern part of Florianópolis, in the Morro das Pedras neighborhood. Situated approximately 20 km from the city center, this viewpoint offers stunning views of the Atlantic Ocean, the beaches of the region, and the surrounding mountains. From the top, you can see Praia do Caldeirão, Praia da Armação, Praia do Morro das Pedras, and the enchanting Ilha do Campeche.The history of Morro das Pedras dates back to the 16th century when Portuguese explorers discovered the area. The viewpoint is 152 meters above sea level. In 1956, Jesuit priests built the Casa de Retiros Vila Fátima, a Catholic retreat, near the viewpoint, which became a landmark and contributed to the development of the neighborhood.Today, Mirante Morro das Pedras is a popular tourist attraction known for its natural beauty. Visitors can enjoy hiking, picnics, and nature observation. The sunrise and sunset views are particularly spectacular. The area is also known for the seasonal migration of whales, which can be observed from the viewpoint between June and November.
