Trilha do Dólmen da Oração - IMMA: A Meditative Hike Through Ancient History

The Trilha do Dólmen da Oração, managed by the Instituto Multidisciplinar de Meio Ambiente e Arqueoastronomia (IMMA), offers visitors a unique opportunity to connect with nature and explore ancient history. Located in Barra da Lagoa, Florianópolis, this trail leads to megalithic monuments, including dolmens and menhirs, believed to have been constructed by ancestral communities. The trail is not difficult, though it involves some steep sections. As you ascend, you'll be rewarded with panoramic views of the stunning Conceição Lagoon and the surrounding landscape. The dolmen, a unique rock formation, marks the solstices and equinoxes, adding a touch of mystique and historical significance to the experience. These stones are perfectly aligned with the specific dates of sunrise and sunset. Adnir Ramos, a local fisherman, discovered these alignments in 1988 during his fishing trips. His passion for understanding the rock art of the Santa Catarina coastline led to the creation of IMMA, dedicated to preserving and researching the area's archaeological and astrophysical aspects. Before embarking on the self-guided tour, visitors receive an explanatory leaflet about the site. The trail is well-maintained, ensuring a safe and enriching experience.
