Jardim dos Beija-Flores, or Hummingbird Garden, offers a serene escape into nature's beauty in Foz do Iguaçu. Created in 1980 by Dona Marilene as a personal hobby, the garden has blossomed into a sanctuary boasting over 300 species of plants that attract a stunning variety of hummingbirds, butterflies, and other birds native to the Iguaçu region. Opened to the public 15 years ago after attracting ornithologists and biologists, the garden is now managed by Dona Marilene and her two sons, Adrian and Leandro. The family welcomes visitors nearly year-round, with a brief closure during the hummingbirds' breeding season in November and December. The garden reopens in January, adjusting visiting hours to suit the seasons. Strategically placed benches offer visitors panoramic views of the garden, allowing for close observation of the birds. More than eight types of birds and over 150 hummingbirds visit the garden daily, with over 20 hummingbird species recorded, including two new to Argentina. The garden provides a unique opportunity to witness these creatures in their natural habitat. Beyond the hummingbirds, visitors can enjoy the peaceful atmosphere and the vibrant colors of the plants, making it an ideal spot for relaxation and contemplation.
