Getting There

• Train

  The most traditional and scenic way to reach Christ the Redeemer is by taking the Corcovado Train. First, make your way to the Cosme Velho train station. From Copacabana, you can take bus line 583 or a taxi/Uber to the station. A taxi from Copacabana to Cosme Velho costs approximately R$35-R$45. At Cosme Velho, board the train, which departs every 30 minutes for a 20-minute ride through the Tijuca National Park. The train ticket includes a round trip and entrance to the monument. Tickets cost between R$32 and R$94. It is highly recommended to purchase tickets in advance online to avoid queues.

• Van

  Official vans depart from Largo do Machado and Copacabana. In Copacabana, the boarding point is at Praça do Lido. From Largo do Machado, the boarding point is in front of the Mother Church of Nossa Senhora da Glória, near the Largo do Machado metro station. A van from Copacabana costs around R$101.50. The vans run frequently, approximately every 30 minutes, from 8 AM to 5 PM. The ticket includes the round trip and entrance to the monument. The vans take you to Estrada das Paineiras, where you'll board a second van for the final ascent.

• Taxi/Ride-Share

  You can take a taxi or ride-share service like Uber directly to the Paineiras Visitor Center. However, private vehicles are not allowed beyond this point. From the visitor center, you must take the official park van to the statue. A taxi from Copacabana to Christ the Redeemer costs approximately R$51. Parking near the Corcovado train station is available for a fee. Limited parking is available near the Paineiras Visitor Center. The official van from Paineiras to the Christ costs R$35.
