Completed in 2002, the bridge spans 1,200 meters across Lake Paranoá, connecting the city center to the eastern shore, where Lago Sul and the Brasília International Airport are located.Designed by architect Alexandre Chan and structural engineer Mário Vila Verde, the bridge's most distinctive feature is its three 61-meter-tall asymmetrical steel arches. These arches, which crisscross diagonally above the deck, are inspired by the motion of a stone skipping across water. The bridge has two carriageways, each with three lanes, as well as walkways for cyclists and pedestrians.Named after Juscelino Kubitschek de Oliveira, the former president who spearheaded the construction of Brasília, the bridge represents the city's modern and innovative spirit.
