Walking
The Convento de Santo Antônio is located on Largo da Carioca in Centro, Rio de Janeiro. From most points in Centro, the convent is easily accessible on foot. From the Municipal Theater, walk east along Avenida Almirante Barroso, then turn right onto Rua da Carioca. Largo da Carioca will be on your left. The convent is located atop Santo Antônio Hill, overlooking the square. Be prepared for a short uphill walk.
Public Transport
The easiest way to reach the Convento de Santo Antônio via public transport is by taking the Metro to Carioca Station. From there, exit onto Largo da Carioca and walk towards the church. Alternatively, the VLT (light rail) has several stops in Centro. Take VLT Line 1 or 2 to the Carioca station. Numerous bus lines also serve Largo da Carioca. Check local bus routes for the most convenient option from your location.
Taxi/Ride-Share
Taxis and ride-sharing services like Uber are readily available throughout Rio de Janeiro. Simply request a ride to Largo da Carioca, Centro. Be aware that traffic in Centro can be heavy, especially during peak hours. The taxi will drop you off at the base of Santo Antônio Hill, from where you can walk up to the convent.
