Getting There

Metro
Take the Metro Line 1 (the light blue line) from any station in the Zona Sul (South Zone) area, such as Copacabana or Ipanema. Ride towards the General Osório station and transfer at the Cinelândia station to Line 2 (the green line) towards the Pavuna station. Get off at the Icarai station. Once you exit the station, follow the signs to Rua D. Maria da Glória, then walk towards the beach, which is just a few blocks away.

Bus
From the city center, catch the bus number 33 or 38 that goes directly to Niterói. The bus will take you across the bridge to Niterói. After arriving, get off at the Icaraí bus stop. From there, it’s a short walk to Praia de Icaraí. Head straight towards the beach, which is easily visible from the bus stop.

Ferry
If you are near the waterfront in Rio, you can take a ferry from Praça XV to Niterói. The ferry ride offers stunning views of the bay and takes about 20 minutes. Once you arrive at the Niterói terminal, exit and take a bus (33 or 38) or a taxi to Icaraí Beach. The beach is just a short distance from the ferry terminal.
