Getting There

  • Driving

    From São Roque de Minas, the primary access to the upper part of Cachoeira Casca D’anta is via an unpaved road through Parque Nacional da Serra da Canastra's Gate 1. The road is passable by most vehicles, though 4x4 vehicles are recommended, especially during the rainy season. The drive to the upper falls is roughly 23km. From the park entrance, follow the signs to Cachoeira Casca D’anta. To reach the lower part of the falls, take the paved road to Vargem Bonita, then continue on an unpaved road towards São José do Barreiro. From Vargem Bonita, follow the signs to the park's Gate 4, which provides access to the lower falls. Note: There may be a symbolic entrance fee to the park. Check current conditions and fees before your visit.

    From the parking area at the lower section (near Gate 4), a well-maintained trail leads to the base of Cachoeira Casca D’anta. The trail is roughly 1.5 km and offers viewpoints of the falls along the way. From the upper section's parking, various trails lead to the natural pools and viewpoints. These trails are relatively short but can be rocky. Cost: Free, after park entrance.
