The most common way to reach St. John is by ferry from St. Thomas. From Cyril E. King Airport on St. Thomas, take a taxi to either Charlotte Amalie ($15 per person plus $3 per bag) or Red Hook ($23 per person + bags, or $17 per person + bags if 2+ people). Ferries from Charlotte Amalie to Cruz Bay cost $12 per person and take about 45 minutes. Ferries from Red Hook to Cruz Bay cost $8.15 for non-residents, $6 for residents and take about 20 minutes, running hourly. Luggage is typically $3 per bag. Car ferry service is also available from Red Hook to Cruz Bay, with rates between $50-$65.
