Saba Rock, a one-and-a-half-acre island in the British Virgin Islands, is a must-stop destination in the North Sound of Virgin Gorda. With origins dating back to the 1960s, Saba Rock was put on the map by diving pioneer Herbert “Bert” Kilbride, who founded his diving base and the legendary Pirates' Pub.Devastated by hurricanes in 2017, Saba Rock has been rebuilt into an upscale, luxury resort that reopened in late 2021. The island features nine guest rooms, a restaurant, a bar, a gift shop, and a marina. Visitors can enjoy world-class culinary offerings, spa treatments, and a variety of water activities, including diving, snorkeling, kiteboarding, and island tours. A nautical museum displays artifacts from the island's seafaring past.Saba Rock is known for its lively tarpon feeding every day at 5 pm, a guest favorite.     The most common way to reach Saba Rock is by ferry. Several ferry services operate from nearby islands, including Virgin Gorda and Tortola. From Virgin Gorda Airport (VIJ), take a taxi to Gun Creek (approximately 20 minutes, $40 USD). The Saba Rock Ferry offers complimentary service from Gun Creek to the island (10 minutes) for resort guests or those with restaurant reservations. Check in at the red phone booth at the dock.
