Designed by Abdel-Wahed El-Wakil, a renowned expert in Islamic architecture, the mosque aims to be a spiritual oasis. Spanning 2,100 square metres, the mosque can accommodate up to 700 worshippers. The architecture features a blend of Andalusian and Moorish Maghrebi styles, setting it apart from other mosques in Brunei. Key features include water elements in the courtyard, Moroccan mosaics, a marble fountain with Moroccan brass lamps, and Arabic calligraphy. The mosque also boasts Brunei's first retractable roof, allowing for natural light and ventilation. The mosque includes separate air-conditioned prayer halls for men and women and incorporates modern amenities such as projectors for educational purposes and ablution areas. The interior design features Moroccan-style columns and can accommodate around 1,000 people during religious gatherings. The mosque also embraces copies of personal possessions of His Majesty Paduka Seri Baginda Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah.
