    From Bandar Seri Begawan Bus Terminal, take the line 39 bus towards Kampung Kota Batu. The bus departs hourly and the journey takes approximately 8 minutes. Alight at the bus stop nearest to the Malay Technology Museum. From there, it is a short walk to the museum. The bus fare is BND 1.

  • Taxi

    From Bandar Seri Begawan, a taxi to the Malay Technology Museum takes about 9 minutes, covering a distance of 7.5 km. Taxis are readily available in the city center. Expect to pay between BND 8-10 for the ride.

  • Car

    If driving from the Tutong District, head towards Kampung Kota Batu. From the Tutong Town roundabout, take the exit towards Kampung Kota Batu and continue along Jalan Tutong until you reach Simpang 482. Turn left onto Simpang 482, and the Malay Technology Museum will be on your right. There is free parking available on site.

The Malay Technology Museum, officially opened in 1988, is dedicated to showcasing the traditional technologies and lifestyles of Brunei's Malay people. Located in Kota Batu, near other historical landmarks, the museum provides insight into the resourcefulness and skills of past generations. The museum features three main exhibition halls. The Water Village Traditional House Gallery displays the architecture of houses built in Kampong Ayer, highlighting the evolution of building materials and design from the late 19th to mid-20th centuries. The Water Village Traditional Technology Gallery showcases various crafts and cottage industries of Kampong Ayer, including fishing gear, weaving, boat-making, and copper casting. The Inland Traditional Technology Gallery exhibits technologies used by inland communities, such as sago processing, sugar refining, and rice cultivation. Visitors can explore full-scale replicas and dioramas depicting daily life, traditional tools, and artifacts related to Brunei's ethnic groups. The museum also features interactive displays and classic games.
