    From the Bandar Seri Begawan Bus Terminal, take a bus towards Kota Batu. Bus routes and numbers are displayed at the terminal. The fare is around BND 1.00 per trip. Get off at the 'Kota Batu' bus stop, and walk for about 10 minutes along Jalan Kota Batu to reach the park entrance.

    Taxis are available in Bandar Seri Begawan, but can be hard to flag down. Arrange a taxi through your hotel or use the Dart ride-hailing app. A ride from the city center to Taman Arkeologi Kota Batu will cost approximately BND 5.00 - BND 15.00, depending on traffic and location.

Taman Arkeologi Kota Batu, located approximately 5 kilometers (3.1 miles) from Bandar Seri Begawan, is a significant archaeological site in Brunei. The park preserves the ruins of Kota Batu, which was the capital of Brunei from the 14th to the 17th centuries. During this time, it served as a major center for government, trade, and settlement. Archaeological excavations at Kota Batu have revealed important insights into the region's history. The earliest excavations began in 1952-1953, led by Tom Harrisson, and have uncovered stone structures, ceramics, and wooden objects. These findings suggest the city was an important hub and showcase the skills of local people in using plants for construction, industry, medicine and sustenance. Chinese coins dating from 723 to 1425 and Islamic coins have also been discovered at the site. The park features a 1,580-meter walkway, rest huts, and a bridge connecting to Terindak Island. Visitors can explore the former royal residence and various archaeological findings scattered throughout the forested area. Kota Batu is also home to the tombs of the 3rd and 5th Sultans of Brunei.
