Bukit Shahbandar Forest Recreation Park: Brunei's Green Escape

Bukit Shahbandar Forest Recreation Park, located in Kampong Jerudong 'B', is a protected recreational forest offering a refreshing escape into nature. Spanning 234 hectares (580 acres), this park is characterized by its coniferous plantations and rolling green hills. Unlike conservation forests focused on preserving biodiversity, Bukit Shahbandar serves a recreational and educational purpose, inviting visitors to explore its altered but captivating natural environment. The park features native kerangas woodland, complemented by stands of Acacia mangium and Caribbean pine trees. It is home to diverse wildlife, including long-tailed macaques and various bird species. Visitors can explore an extensive network of trails catering to all skill levels, with nine hills offering distinct pathways and shortcuts. These trails feature steep elevations, rocky terrain, and natural topography, with checkpoints and shelters along the way. Bukit Shahbandar offers facilities for a range of visitors, including children's play areas, light workout equipment, a sizeable pond, and stalls selling refreshments. Observation towers provide panoramic views of Bandar Seri Begawan, the Jerudong area, and the South China Sea. The park is a popular spot for picnics, brisk walks, and other group activities.
