City Park: Haskovo's Green Heart

City Park, known locally as Gradska Gradina, serves as a green oasis in the center of Haskovo. Its foundations were laid in the late 19th century, with significant contributions from Marin Penchev, the creator of Sofia's Central Park, who designed the original alley network and oversaw the planting of ornamental trees and shrubs. In 1910, his son Georgi Penchev continued his father's work, expanding the park to 41 decares. The park underwent a complete reconstruction in 2011, enhancing its appeal with renovated alleys, playgrounds, and rest areas. Today, visitors can enjoy a variety of deciduous and coniferous trees, ornamental shrubs, and seasonal plants. The park provides a tranquil atmosphere for leisurely walks, picnics, and relaxation. Throughout the year, City Park hosts various events, including open-air concerts and art exhibitions, adding to its role as a cultural hub. With its central location and welcoming atmosphere, the park is a must-visit destination for tourists and locals alike. It's open from 7 am to 11 pm daily.
