Medi Valley Winery, established in 2007, is a classical winery complex located in the village of Smochevo. Situated at the southwestern foot of the Rila Mountains, 630 meters above sea level, it lies in the northernmost part of the Struma River Valley. The winery is conveniently located on the picturesque road to the Rila Monastery, making it an ideal stop for tourists exploring the region. The winery boasts a modern facility and 370 acres of vineyards, planted with Chardonnay, Traminer, Sauvignon Blanc, Merlot, and Cabernet Sauvignon varieties. The complex includes an administrative building with a wine bar and shop on the first floor, offering Medi's wines. A panoramic terrace provides stunning views of the Rila Mountains, perfect for outdoor wine tastings. The production area features a grape processing section, a vinification and wine storage area, and a bottling section. In the basement, wines age in barriques, and bottled wines mature under optimal conditions before being released. In 2010, Medi Valley launched a new concept to transform the winery into a jewel of southwestern Bulgaria. The winery focuses on creating terroir wines with individual styles and unique characters, using grapes selected at their optimal ripeness. The Struma Valley, where Medi Valley Winery is located, is known for its long-standing winemaking traditions and indigenous Melnik grapes. The winery has received prestigious awards at national and international competitions, establishing itself as a charming destination for wine tourism. Medi Valley is open to visitors daily, offering wine lovers the chance to discover their favorite wines. The winery pays homage to the Thracian tribe Medi, who inhabited the lands along the Struma River and were known for their viticulture and wine-making. The attractive geographic location, excellent conditions, and exceptional wines make Medi Valley Winery a must-visit destination. Nearby attractions include the Rila Monastery and the Stob Pyramids.
