From Kavarna, take a taxi to Cape Kaliakra, which is about a 15-minute drive. Alternatively, during the tourist season, local minibuses may operate from Kavarna to the cape, but schedules can vary. A taxi from Kavarna to Cape Kaliakra should cost around 15-20 BGN.

    If driving, head towards Kavarna, approximately 70 km from Varna. From Varna, take the A1 highway towards Burgas and exit towards Kavarna. Follow signs for Kavarna, and then follow signs for Cape Kaliakra, located about 15 km southeast of Kavarna. There is a parking lot near the entrance to the Cape Kaliakra Nature Reserve. The name Kaliakra, meaning 'beautiful headland,' reflects its stunning natural beauty.Historically, the cape was first settled by the Thracian tribe of Tirizi in the 4th century BC, who gave it the name Tirisis. It later became a strategic fortress for the Romans, Byzantines, and Bulgarians. The area is rich in legends, including the tale of 40 Bulgarian maidens who jumped to their deaths to avoid Ottoman capture. Visitors can explore the ruins of ancient settlements, including Roman baths and medieval churches. A small museum in a cave displays archaeological finds and a model of the fortress.Kaliakra is also a haven for wildlife. It's a prime spot for birdwatching, as it lies on the Via Pontica, a major migratory route. Dolphins can often be seen in the waters below. The cape's unique steppe grasslands are home to rare plant species.
