Car
If you are traveling by car, start by heading towards the town of Bansko, which is approximately 2 kilometers from the waterfall. From Bansko, take the road leading towards the Pirin National Park. Follow the signs for the 'Pirin National Park' entrance, which will be well-marked. Once inside the park, continue for about 5 kilometers until you reach the parking area near the trailhead for St. Nicholas Waterfall. There may be a small parking fee, generally around 5-10 BGN (Bulgarian Lev). After parking, follow the marked trail to the waterfall, which is approximately a 30-minute hike.
Public Transportation
For those using public transportation, you can take a bus from Sofia or Plovdiv to Bansko. The journey takes around 2-3 hours depending on traffic. Once you arrive in Bansko, look for the local shuttle services or taxis that can take you to the entrance of Pirin National Park. The fare for a taxi from Bansko to the park entrance is usually around 15-20 BGN. Upon reaching the park, you will need to hike approximately 30 minutes on a well-marked trail to reach St. Nicholas Waterfall. Make sure to check the bus schedules in advance as they may vary, especially during the off-peak season.
