Getting There

• Car

  If you are traveling by car, head towards Asenovgrad from your current location in the Rhodopes. Follow the signs for Asenovgrad, which is located approximately 20 kilometers northeast of Plovdiv. Once you arrive in Asenovgrad, navigate to the center of the city and look for signs that lead to the Karadzhov kamak. You will need to take a local road that leads into the mountains – follow the GPS coordinates (41.8233517, 24.9507796) to guide you directly to the site. Parking is available near the site, but be aware that it can fill up quickly during peak tourist seasons.

• Public Transportation

  For those using public transportation, you can take a bus from Plovdiv to Asenovgrad. Buses operate frequently from the Plovdiv Bus Station to Asenovgrad, and the journey takes about 30-40 minutes. Once in Asenovgrad, you will need to either walk or take a taxi to reach Karadzhov kamak. The distance is approximately 10 kilometers from the bus station to the site. Taxis are available, but it’s advisable to negotiate the fare beforehand, which should be around 15-20 BGN (Bulgarian Lev).

• Hiking

  If you're feeling adventurous, you can hike from Asenovgrad to Karadzhov kamak. The hike is about 5-7 kilometers and can take approximately 1.5 to 2 hours depending on your pace. Start from the center of Asenovgrad and follow the marked trails leading into the mountains. Make sure to wear appropriate hiking shoes and carry water, as the trail can be steep and rugged in sections.
