Getting There

Car
If driving from Samokov, take the road towards Rila Monastery and follow signs for 'Rila National Park'. After about 20 km, look for the road sign pointing towards 'Лопушко езеро'. Turn right onto this road, which leads to a parking area near the lake. Parking is usually free. From Malyovitsa, head south on the main road towards Samokov. After 10 km, turn left onto the road to Malyovitsa ski resort. Continue for 5 km to the Malyovitsa parking area. Follow the hiking trails towards Лопушко езеро, a 30-minute hike. Note that tolls are not applicable, and parking is free.

Public Transport
From Sofia, take a bus to Samokov (1.5 hours). In Samokov, take a local minibus or taxi towards Rila Monastery. Inform the driver you want to go to Лопушко езеро. The minibus fare is around 5-10 BGN. After the drop-off, walk approximately 2 km to reach the lake. Check bus schedules for the return trip.

Hiking
For those who enjoy hiking, you can start your journey directly from Malyovitsa village. There are several marked trails leading to Лопушко езеро. The most common route takes about 1.5 to 2 hours of moderate hiking. Make sure to bring suitable hiking gear and check the weather conditions before you start your hike. Alternatively, hike from Rila Monastery, following marked trails towards the lake (about 8 km, 3-4 hours).
