Cape Skamni, situated at the end of the Sozopol Peninsula, has been a place of significance throughout history. Archaeological studies reveal that the inhabitants of Apollonia and Medieval Sozopol considered this windy cape a place for rituals. As early as the 6th century BC, the volcanic rocks were used as a sanctuary until the 3rd century BC.In the 11th century AD, a small chapel was built, followed by an impressive basilica in the 12th century. The basilica was strategically located, incorporating a rock-hewn holy reservoir from the Greek sanctuary. After reconstruction in the 15th century, the temple remained until the 17th century. Today, visitors can explore the remnants of the Medieval Monastery of St. Apostles.Cape Skamni offers clear blue waters and unique rock formations. The area's resemblance to Portugal, combined with the sound of waves and scattered poppy flowers, creates a serene atmosphere. The cape is an ideal spot for photography, relaxation, and romantic strolls, especially during sunset.
