The Veteran Steamroller of Stara Zagora is a unique monument, a fully restored 1938 Henschel steamroller. This 18-ton machine was used in road construction in Bulgaria until the mid-1950s. By chance, it remained in the storage halls of road construction enterprises for over 60 years. It is believed to be the only surviving model of its kind. Even Henschel, the German engineering company that manufactured it, may not have such an old exhibit in its own museum. The steamroller was fully restored for the completion of the Trakia motorway and even participated in the opening ceremony on July 1, 2012, operating under its own steam. Today, it serves as a reminder of Bulgaria's industrial past and the advancements in road construction technology.
