    Car

    If you are traveling by car, start from any city in Thrace, such as Plovdiv or Haskovo. Use GPS navigation and input the coordinates 42.1334828, 23.3401919 or the address '2643 Рилски манастир'. From Plovdiv, take the A1 motorway towards Sofia. After approximately 70 km, take the exit toward E79, following signs for Rila Monastery. Continue on E79 for about 40 km, then turn left onto the road leading to the monastery. Note that parking is available near the monastery, but a small fee may apply, usually around 5 BGN.

    Public Transportation

    For those using public transportation, first make your way to the nearest major city bus station, like in Plovdiv. Take a bus to Samokov, which runs regularly throughout the day. The journey takes about 2 hours and the ticket costs approximately 10 BGN. Upon arrival in Samokov, transfer to a local minibus heading to Rila Monastery, which departs from the central bus station. This leg of the trip will take about 30 minutes and costs about 5 BGN. The minibus will drop you off close to the entrance of the monastery.
